Please make sure that at beginning, you need to allow the AIR out first. Let the air bleed valve open for a while. If there is too much air inside the chamber, the pressure will swing wildy during operation.

All the temperature knob on the All American Sterilizer can do is increase or decrease the temperature. The All American 1915 Sterilizer can get to a maximum of 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

Q: I am using my sterilizer to dispose of plastic petri dishes w/ bacteria growing on them. Is it necessary to place the plates into some type of container before beginning sterilization? I am worried about the plastic melting.

A: You should have a metal basket, which normally comes with this sterilizer.
